Cadets train on the1st, 3rd and 5th Wednesday of the month between 1830 and 2030 at the Morphett Vale Fire Station. All cadets are issued with boots, protective clothing, helmets and gloves at no cost.

As a CFS cadet you will be trained by qualified and experienced volunteer firefighters in:

  • Firefighting skills;

  • Using fire hydrants and hoses;

  • Using ladders;

  • Fire extinguishers;

  • Search and rescue;

  • Using CFS radios;

  • Map reading;

  • Basic first aid; and

  • Competitions.

Cadets are also given the opportunity to participate in a Basic Firefighter 1 training course, this ensures they meet the minimum level of training required for them to attend emergency incidents when they turn sixteen years of age.

Successfully completing a Basic Firefighter course also allows students to gain credits on their S.A.C.E. at high school.
