The Morphett Vale CFS brigade Cadets are aged between 13 and 18, they train every Wednesday night during the school term and learn many of the same basic fire-fighting skills as our fire-fighters. Some of the cadet training activities may include;
- Operating pumps
- Using fire hydrants and hoses
- Ladders
- Fire extinguishers
- Communications
- Map reading
- First Aid
- Cadet Awards Nights
- Fun activities
- Excursions to other fire stations or agencies
Cadets are encouraged to attend a CFS Basic Fire-fighter 1 training course, this ensures that they meet the minimum level of training required for them to respond to emergency incidents.
Between the age of 17 and 18 cadets will begin to transition to the fire-fighter training program, and at the age of 18 they will no longer attend cadets and may have the opportunity to become a CFS fire-fighter.
All cadets are provided with boots, protective clothing, helmets etc at no cost, although some cadet activities may require a small fee to cover the cost of the event.
CFS Cadet Leaders are all senior volunteers of the Brigade and have current Working With Children Police Checks, and all cadets are covered by the CFS Public Liability insurance whilst undertaking CFS approved activities.
Cadet intakes are generally held once a year, and positions are limited, however to apply to join the Cadet program please complete this Online Expression Of Interest Form
